We’re so glad that you that you have decided to bring Calm & Cure Candle Co. into your home or office. To ensure your candle burns safely and evenly, here are some tips for you to follow, just in case you need them.
Center Your Wick
When you first light your candle, the wick will be centered. As you enjoy your candle, however, the wick may start to bend off center, into the melted wax. Simply push it to the center before your next burn. A leaning wick, that is burned longer than 4 hours, may lead to shattered glass!
Keep Away From Drafts
Keep your candle away from ceiling fans, high traffic areas, and vents. This is a safety issue. It also causes uneven burns and black soot around the jar.
Trim Your Wick
Using a wick trimmer or a pair of scissors, trim your wick to ¼ of an inch before lighting your candle, every time. 1/4 of an in is about the size of a new pencil eraser. The wicks may create a “mushroom” on top, after burning. Cut the mushroom off before your next burn. If your wick is not trimmed, the flame will extend past the top of the jar. Watch where you burn!
Prevent Tunneling
Burn your candle at least 2-3 hours after each lighting. If the melt pool does not reach the edge of the jar before the candle is extinguished, a tunnel will form down the middle of your candle, leaving wax around the sides of the jar.
Remove Debris
Make sure your candle is free of any wick trimmings, matches, and other debris. These can reignite and create a flame that is too large for the candle, posing a safety issue and potentially shattering the jar.
Be Aware of Room Size
Smaller candles have a weaker scent throw, because they don’t hold much fragrance. If you want a stronger scent, burn 2 or more candles side by side. 8oz candles should be burned in bathrooms, small bedrooms or other small rooms in the house, unless more than one is burned.
Do not leave candles burning while you are asleep, and do not burn them longer than 4 hours at a time. Allow them to cool before your next lighting!
